A veneer is a thin layer of tooth-coloured material which is made to fit precisely over the visible surface of a front tooth to make it look better.
They are ideal for discoloured or unsightly teeth to improve the appearance. They help to close the gap between front teeth and can protect the teeth from acid in food and drink.
Porcelain veneers are made by the dental technician after taking an impression of your tooth.
Bonding is an alternative to using veneers and is performed using a white filling that is shaped and hardened using a similar procedure to standard fillings. This can work well if the tooth can support the filling but they tend to break down and discolour sooner, making veneers more cost effective. We will advise you of the best option for you after examination.

Choose from either white or silver fillings. White fillings bond better and can be used to reshape or rebuild broken or worn teeth, although they are not always successful if the filling is very large. If this is the case then crowns or inlays can be used (which are a natural colour), but this may require more of the tooth to be removed and are consequently more expensive. Veneers can also be an alternative to fillings on the front teeth. |

Hyperactivity of the facial expression muscles can result in the development of deep lines in the forehead, between the eyebrows and around the eyes.
Injecting botulinum toxin (botox) into the affected area temporarily paralyses the underlying muscles responsible for wrinkling, giving the face a more relaxed and pleasant appearance. The wrinkles become smoother or disappear all together.

Dentures can be partial or full. Partial dentures can replace a few missing teeth. Dentures can be fitted straight after teeth have been taken out so that no-one knows you have had teeth removed.
A partial denture is the easiest way of replacing missing teeth, but some people find this uncomfortable and eventually decide to have a bridge or implant made. A partial denture is a plate with false teeth attached to it. The plate is made of either plastic, or metal and plastic, usually with clips to keep it in place. Sometimes the retaining clips can be visible when you smile or open your mouth, but this depends on the position of the false teeth and clips.
We will be able to advice you on the range and suitability of the different types of plastic teeth available. Dentures which have teeth designed to give a more 'natural' appearance are available privately.

The principal at the practice, Dr S Sihra, has a special interest in challenging Root canal treatments, and all the practices have had many referrals in the past from other dentists for second opinions, and for difficult treatments. Root canals are often perceived to be traumatic, and painful, but rest assured times have moved on, and they are now very quick, predictable and after the anaesthetic, pain free. We use the latest in techniques and equipment at the practice, and are fully equipped with digital imaging software to help diagnose all types of dental disease.
Dr S Sihra has completed the revolutionary new 6 month smiles Clear orthodontic system, from the system developer, and founder Dr R Swain, in New York. This offers teenagers and adults are perfect chance to have their teeth straightened without the need for the necessary 'metal train tracks', as these are tooth coloured with a tooth coloured wire. We are offering the majority of our patients this treatment from as little as £2000, and in that price we include Tooth whitening, and Retainers. Other advantages include, that the brace time is on average 6 months, and although not suitable for all types of teeth, will suit the majority of cosmetic cases.
